    GL2195000 8” element on Garland E686

    Garland E686 208V. I’ve recently installed a new element #GL2195000 with a new infinite switch #GLCKG03185-2. 
     
    The surface element turns on when the infinite switch is at minimum and at maximum but is irresponsive in between. 
    Is there a chance that the element or switch is defective?

    That will be your infinite control for the burner. They have a heating element in them and a bi-metal strip with a contact and a spring that has to constantly come on and off depending on the setting.
