Hello again. I have a quite old Pacojet 1 which spins up normally, but once it hits content of the beaker, the RPM goes drastically down and motor sounds really soggy. Could this be caused from worn out carbon brushes in the motor, or the motor itself is done? One guy also reported it once made smoke from the back during pacotizing.

I thought it could also be the clutch, but hearing about the smoke, I lean towards the motor.

Being it smoked, you may want to test the windings. But also the wiring from the speed board to the motor. A reduced conductor will make a high resistance and smoke, but also a lower voltage that will make a motor limp. I would be surprised if it was DC and had brushes today. Most variable speed motors today are multiple phase AC were they just vary cycles to control speed. Find what burned is the easiest.

I’m not with the machine, I just want to be as prepared as I can before I visit them (to bring parts, equipment, etc). Actually I replaced carbon brushes on a early 2002 Pacojet 1. I suspect all of the 1s have same motor(?)

If you have parts in stock, I’d bring a motor and board as well as wiring repair / replacement connectors and wire.
