Elements are vital in cooking equipment in order to get things heating up. But if it just so happens the unit you’re servicing has one that’s burnt out, then it’ll need to be replaced. Once the replacement part is ordered and in hand, you’re almost ready to get the job done. That last thing you need is a helpful set of instructions to walk you through the removal and installation. That’s where this video guide comes in! It’ll walk you through how to change the top element on a TurboChef Bullet oven so you can get it running again for the customer.

  • Step 1. Ensure the unit is fully powered down and the power cord is disconnected from the outlet.
  • Step 2. Remove the top panel by removing the 2 screws located on the right and left side of the unit. The screws will either be phillips or torque security screws. You can then stand behind the unit and lift the panel up and away from the oven.
  • Step 3. In order to access the top heating element, you then need to remove all the components from the electrical plate. This includes the following parts:
    • Both capacitors
      • Note: Confirm they are discharged before removing them.
    • Magnetron and both of it’s cooling ducts
    • Both cross members
    • Relay board

    • Both high voltage transformers
  • Step 4. Remove the plate by removing the phillips head screws around the perimeter. Then you can lift it up and out of place.
  • Step 5. Disconnect the connections for the top heating element by removing the covers, nuts and washers. The ring terminals can just be pulled off after.
  • Step 6. Remove the tape securing the insulation on top of the element. Then peel back the insulation.
  • Step 7. Remove the top element by removing all of the screws and then lifting it up and out of the unit.

Installing

  • Step 1. Place the element into the unit and secure it with the screws that were removed from the old element.
  • Step 2. Fold the insulation back over the element and secure it with standard foil tape.
  • Step 3. Put the ring terminals back onto the element posts and secure them with the washers, nuts and covers.
    • Note: Be careful not to over tighten.
  • Step 4. Reinstall the electrical plate and secure it with screws.
  • Step 5. Reinstall the components of the electrical plate in the reverse order of how they were removed.
    • Note: Consult the service manual for an exploded view of the components and their exact positions on the plate.
  • Step 6. Put the top panel back onto the unit and secure it with the two screws to finish changing the top element.
