Welcome to the techtown frequently asked questions page. We've tried to capture as many of your questions as possible, but there is of course always the possibility that you have a question or problem that isn't covered here. To contact someone on our team, please submit a support ticket.
Do you have questions that need to be answered? Do you have experience you’d like to pass on to others? If so, techtown is for you. Techtown was built to be the place technicians can go to ask and answer questions.
Other features include:Â
- Discussions featuring questions about foodservice equipment, parts, tools and more
- The latest industry news with new content added daily
- A manufacturer directory – a list of websites and phone numbers
- Techtown rewards – earn points in a variety of ways and redeem them for valuable gear
- Available on any device – laptop, desktop computer, smart phone or tablet
Nothing! Techtown is free to join and use. You can also earn techtown points in a variety of ways that you can redeem for cool stuff.
Yes, you can. Keep in mind, most members are techs working on equipment in North America, so not all advice will apply to all foodservice equipment.
For example, when it comes to gas and electrical connections, there are different pressure, plug/outlet styles and electrical voltage needs throughout the world.
When in doubt, always contact the manufacturer of the equipment you’re working on and ask for their expert advice on specs for other countries.
You can use a desktop computer, laptop, smart phone or tablet. Techtown is mobile-friendly, so it can be anywhere you are. If you have any device issues using techtown, please drop us a note at feedback@techtownforum.com and we’ll look into it.
Techtown rewards is a loyalty program developed for community members. You can earn points doing day-to-day activities like logging in, asking questions, answering questions and referring techs to techtown. Check back often because we may surprise you with additional ways to earn points.
Anyone can earn points, but only members in Canada and the United States are eligible to redeem points for physical rewards.
If you’ve redeemed points for a reward, you can find the status of your order on the orders section of your profile.
Members of techtown can create their own groups, just like a new discussion on a discussion board. When creating a group, you have three options:
Public: These groups can be created by anyone and membership in these groups is open to any member of techtown.
Hidden: Hidden groups are not listed on techtown, but can still be joined by anyone who has a link.
Private: These groups are invitation only. To join the group, members must be approved by the group owner. This provides a private place for companies or members who want to share info with a smaller group.
Absolutely! When you use a social sign-in, like Amazon and Google, we don’t see your password. All pages on techtown are hosted using SSL and you will always see a padlock or other secure notification in your address bar.
